Midlife can feel like a silent unraveling — emotionally, spiritually, and physically. Many women experience what I call MenoMidlife Meltdowns, moments where the mind, body, and soul reach their limit and God calls us into deeper rest. Today’s Sunday Still explores the truth behind this season and the perfect peace God offers in the middle of it.

Scripture for Today
Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)
“So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Let’s Tell the Truth About meno-Midlife meltdowns
A MenoMidlife Meltdown isn’t always dramatic.
Sometimes it’s quiet.
Private.
Internal.
A slow unraveling behind a composed face.
It’s functioning on the outside while breaking on the inside.
It’s smiling while your soul is whispering, “I’m tired.”
And sometimes the place God heals you
… is not the place where you broke.
My Moment of Truth
I didn’t leave a young child behind.
Chris is 35, independent, and secured with a caretaker.
I stepped away because I was nearing an emotional breaking point, and continuing to push forward would have done more harm than my mind, body, and spirit could carry.
Dubai wasn’t running away.
It was God pulling me into a quiet place — a place where He could reach me without the noise of my life competing for His voice.
What “Breaking” Really Looks Like
Breaking isn’t always loud.
Sometimes it looks like:
- crying over things you normally overlook
- waking up exhausted
- feeling numb or overstimulated
- withdrawing because your soul is overwhelmed
- losing the spark that once defined you
- carrying everyone while no one carries you
- functioning on fumes and calling it normal
And this is the truth:
When you don’t check in with yourself — and more importantly, check in with God — you end up carrying weights He never intended you to bear alone.
God sometimes allows your exhaustion to speak louder than your strength
so you will turn back toward Him.
Because He knows:
If you don’t slow down, you will break down.
But if your mind is stayed on Him,
He will keep you in perfect peace.
(Isaiah 26:3)
A MenoMidlife Meltdown is often God’s invitation to come away from the noise and sit in His presence.
What Women in This Place Need to Step Away From
Not people —
but pressure.
Not family —
but constant responsibility.
Not life —
but the version of life that leaves no room for rest, prayer, or God’s voice.
Sometimes a woman in this season needs a break from:
- being needed every minute
- the emotional labor of fixing everything
- performing strength
- environments that suffocate her spirit
- noise — emotional, mental, or literal
- identities that no longer fit
- expectations that overextend her
- routines that leave no space for God
It’s not escape.
It’s obedience.
It’s alignment.
It’s restoration.
The Peace That Followed
When I stepped away, I found God waiting for me in the quiet.
For the first time in years:
- I prayed without rushing
- I read my Bible with a clear mind
- I honored the Sabbath and truly rested
- I allowed myself to be human, not superhuman
- I woke up when my eyes opened
- And I didn’t rise until my spirit felt ready
10 a.m.
Noon.
2 p.m.
No alarms.
No pressure.
No noise.
Just peace — the kind only God can give.
The only fires were the ones I created.
And even those were few.
Why meno-Midlife meltdowns DO This to Us
Because menopause is not just hormonal.
It’s spiritual.
It’s emotional.
It’s identity-level transformation.
God uses this season to:
- pull you closer
- strip away what drains you
- reveal who you are becoming
- free you from roles that suffocate you
- renew your strength
- reset your priorities
- restore your soul
Midlife is where He whispers:
“Daughter, be still.
I’m rebuilding you.”
The Spiritual Layer
Sometimes God quiets your life
so He can restore your spirit.
He removes distractions
so you can hear Him.
He unsettles you
so He can settle you in Him.
He calls you away
so you can return renewed.
A meno-midlife meltdown is often the doorway to a new version of you
the healed, rested, God-led version.
Reflection for the Week
Where is God calling you to slow down, listen, and check in with Him — before life overwhelms you?
A Closing Prayer
Lord, thank You for meeting me in the quiet.
Thank You for stillness that strengthens,
for rest that restores,
and for Your voice that guides me back to myself.
Keep my mind stayed on You
so that Your peace guards my heart in every season.
In Yahsua’s name, Amen.
